Dr Claire Weekes passed away in 1990; however her knowledge and skills are still as relevant and efficaious as they were when she developed them.  Her work, which is internationally acclaimed, is based on her own personal experience of nervous exhaustion, her experiences as a doctor helping and observing her patients with all forms of nervous illness, and her ingeniously applied scientific knowledge.  She never tried to claim the credit for curing people but instead showed them how to cure themselves.   It was her belief that nervous disorders occur when people are kept in a state of extreme sensitization for an extended period of time. Sometimes the condition is brought about by an event and sometimes it occurs bit by bit, especially if the sufferer is forced to live with unpleasant circumstances. Her step by step self help methods teach one to regain control over their state of mind. Not only that, but she gives you practical ways to deal with your feelings of fear and dread. Also, unlike any other, she will help you thoroughly understand your many physical symptoms which can be caused from overwraught nerves.

You can read an article about the causes of panic attacks here.

Basically, her material explains what people are suffering from, how they can deal with it and provides an understanding of all the symptoms both physical and psychological that come with it. She also deals with depression which she refers to (in this context) as depletion.  It is as if the sufferer has been hitting the panic button and flooding the engine with adrenaline for some considerable time and the battery is flat. Dr Weekes explains how the battery can be recharged. One of her qualities is that she is extremely good at reassuring her patients that they are not the only ones experiencing these symptoms and that there is in fact nothing seriously wrong with them.
